Your Guide to Terpsgiving

Share this post with your friends

Cannabis consumption can spark up your Thanksgiving holiday. Whether you prefer to call it Terpsgiving, Danksgiving or Thanksgiving, enhancing your holiday meal with cannabis recipes can be fun and rewarding.

What Are Terpenes?

Terpenes are found in many plants and contain aromatic compounds that may enhance your holiday meals. cannabis has high concentrations of terpenes.

Decarb Your Cannabis for Terpsgiving

This is very important for first time cannabis chefs. If you don’t decarb your cannabis, you could end up with poor tasting or low potency oil or butter.

Decarboxylation facilitates the conversion of THCA in raw cannabis into THC, the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis. Due to the heat, this happens naturally when you smoke cannabis. When using raw cannabis, you have to decarb it, or you will be eating THCA instead of THC. This could result in inactive cannabis consumption.

Testing Before Danksgiving

You wouldn’t serve guests new non-cannabis recipes without testing them first. So, test infused ingredients before incorporating them in your grandma’s holiday recipes.

For example, you can make cannabis infused mashed potatoes the week before the holiday to perfect the potency and taste that’s right for you. Add a little bit at a time to determine the amount of cannabis needed for a successful holiday meal.

Creamy Cannabis Spuds

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1/2 cup whole milk

  • 2-3 lb Yukon gold potatoes

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 8 crushed garlic cloves

  • Cannabutter (add to match your tastes)

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  1. Put the peels and diced potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Wait for the water to boil before turning the heat down to simmer for another 15 minutes.

  2. In a small saucepan, combine the garlic, heavy cream and milk on low heat. Let it reach a simmer and then remove the mixture, stream it to remove the garlic cloves.

  3. Let the potatoes cook for 15 minutes. Then strain the potatoes and put them back in the pot.

  4. Use a potato masher for a chunky consistency. You may want to use a blender if you prefer smooth potatoes.

  5. Now it’s time to add the best ingredient! Combine the cubed cannabutter, regular butter and salt to the cream mixture, stirring vigorously to combine the ingredients.

  6. Slowly add the cream mixture to the mashed potatoes until everything is thoroughly mixed.

  7. Every chef’s favorite step is testing the mixture and that will be even more true with cannabis-infused mashed potatoes. You can even share them with your friends and family if you want to!
